6 Flags Over Texas

Interstate Batteries has a family day each year and this year it was at Six Flags. It was a sunny and mostly warm day in October, but it was also Fright Fest at the big park...something we didn't take into account when we made our decision to go. I'm not sure it would have made a difference since it's hard to pass up free tickets and we hadn't been all year long, but maybe we would have been more prepared for the long (did I say long) lines. Yikes! We stood in most lines for about an hour, but we had fun nonetheless. Brodie was even more brave this time and rode several new rides. He really likes the fast ones that go round and round....all the ones that mommy's stomach cannot handle :( He is beginning to try out more roller coasters and he did  well on the mine train and other similar ones, but I'm afraid we pushed it a bit too far by talking him in to trying the Judge Roy Scream. In our defense, I had never ridden it before and it had been years and years since Kyle rode it. There were other kids in line so we told him he would love it. Bad choice. If you are pursuing trust with your children (as we are!)....don't do what we did :( As the coaster went up and up at the beginning of the ride, I noticed that Brodie's eyes were bigger than I had ever seen them. Poor baby.  And there wasn't a thing we could do about it. So, what DID we do.....we told him to scream as hard as he could and that it would be over soon. What horrible parenting.  He made it though.....without tears, but he didn't speak to us for a few minutes afterwards. He just said his stomach hurt. Since then, we have learned not to ask him about the Judge Roy Scream (and not to talk him into riding anymore coasters)- it's  not a subject he wishes to discuss....or remember.  Thankfully, he still loves 6 Flags and wants to head back there soon.  Just no big roller coasters this time!

He got to choose one game to play and he chose basketball.  One we thought was too hard,
but he made 2 of his 3 shots and won a b-ball!
